I'm walking down the road of life on a cold January night, to where seemingly similar faces meet. In my mind these places where people gather. Whether a small group or large, is a masquerade party on a global scale and the theme is set to "human". We all wear our favourite masks and unleash ourselves upon the world. Everyone pretending to be someone they are not, with none the wiser. It is amidst these people I walk and socialise. A funny thing to say-socialise. When society itself hides behind a mask, what does socialising even mean? For those who choose to not wear a mask, we have labels ready at hand. Some are freaks while others mad. I too carry my own brand and label. I wear it proudly on my chest. After a fashion, I have come to like it, to cherish it and be proud of it. Unfortunately, that leaves me alone. In my solitude I have come to know of an enormous and most-powerful existence. An entity that doesn't have labels in His pocket, ready to be thrown at people's faces. A being that has His arms outstretched, ever ready to befriend you. In this loneliness, I have fallen in love. A vast void that encompasses the universe and more, a calm night that soothes u and throws u in a trance. I yearn for that touch. The touch that I have known for the briefest of time. Like a lovers kiss that lingers on your lips forever. The taste so tantalising that it has left you, eternally, wanting for more. I only wish the memory remains as strong as the day it happened and that my resolve never weakens. On the road of life where I walk, in search, for the touch of my love, my friend and saviour. No more do I need society. No more am I bound by the theme of this masquerade. I have taken off the mask and my lover finds me beautiful and worthy of attention. Pave me a path, oh Lord of the world's and see me walk through fire and sea in search of you.
You are the fire that burns inside,
And I strive to kindle that flame.
When a wrong escapes my hands,
You, ever-willing to purify me.
If only I speak those words,
Make the intention of my return.
You would burn the necrotic area,
Purify me and then make me whole.
If only I close my eyes and see,
Would you show me my soul.
That mirror and in it your reflection,
Could take away everything that is me.
Throw me Into that infinity,
Beyond that void where you reside.
Showering your blessings and peace,
That tranquility I have tasted but a little.
Allow my greed to grow so I may find you,
Surely if greed was ever lawful it would be now.
Let me drink from that cup you hold,
The cup who everyone searches for.
For the people who harbour skepticism,
You've felt that flame inside you too.
Why then do you frown and complain,
Is it that hard to look inside yourself?
At night when you lie in bed and die,
And in the morning when your soul returns.
Where did you go? How have you been?
Next time take me with you- allow these eyes to see.
The Beautiful Space-
